My Magnifecent Haiku Poem!!!

Sunrise

The sun rises bright
Reflects on the shining sea
Welcomes a new day

This week in literacy we learnt how to write haiku poems. Haiku poems do not rhyme they have three lines. The first line is counted as five syllables the second line is counted as seven syllables and the last line is counted as five syllables. It is really hard trying to think of words that are good at describing but aren’t more than five or seven syllables.

  1. Hi Millie,
Your sunrise poem was amazing. I really liked how you described what the sunrise looked like. I drew a great picture in my head and could imagine me at that sunrise.

  2. Hi Millie,
I loved your poem and the picture matches what you said. Like Isobel said, it paints a picture in your mind about what a sunrise looks like. You also gave a great explanation of a Haiku. Next time you could maybe add an open ended question at the end of your post but other than that it was really good.

  3. Hi Millie,
I liked how you described what the sun looks like. My poem was about leaves. What is your favourite topic to write about.

  4. How Millie!
What a great poem! Beautiful and descriptive. I love the words you chose and you made a short but amazing poem because of that. The picture really matched the words and gave me a good picture in my head. Keep up the good poetry!

What other poems have you written?

  5. Hi Millie,
I thought your haiku poem about the sunrise was really detailed. I liked the picture that went with the poem and also how you gave us a brief description of what a haiku poem is and what it’s made up of.

  6. Hi Millie,
Really great haiku poem! I love the theme of the sunrise! I really like your descriptive words in your poem. I like how you wrote a short explanation about what a haiku poem is just in case some one doesn’t know what it is. I also really like the picture that you put with your text. Great job, I would love to see more of your poems!
